Connect to your inner goddess with Katie for an hour of fun, learning Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. The origin of Belly dance is from the middle east. It is practiced in many countries and they each have their own style. Egyptian is the most well-known but there is also Turkish, Roma (gypsy), American Tribal Style and Tribal Fusion, to name a few. American Tribal Style (ATS) and Tribal Fusion originated in North America, fusing the styles of dance from the middle east, north Africa, Spain and India. I teach Tribal fusion style belly dance. To me belly dancing connects us with our bodies and our sensuality. It is not erotic but sensual, empowering and fun! It is a great way to exercise even if you’re not that coordinated. My style of teaching is fun first while learning the moves then dancing some choreography, which is even more fun! What to wear? Whatever you are comfortable moving and dancing in. I enjoy the opportunity to dress up, wear some funky pants, some jazzy jewelry and go barefoot. You do not have to bare your belly unless you are open to it. If you have a hip / coin belt then please bring it. I do have a box of belts to use. Some classes will require veils, scarves or other props. I have lots of those too but will let everyone know ahead of time if you’d like to bring your own. I look forward to sharing with you what I have learned about the art of belly dance. Let’s tie on a coin belt and Shimmmmmmmy! Ages 16+
